####################################### # PsychOS 02/23/2016 - OpenSUSE Studio # ####################################### * Tried building PsychOS using OpenSUSE Studio.Everything was going well until I tried to install the XFCE indicator plugin (See PsychOS 2016:02:27). I have a feeling that the indicator plugin found outside of OpenSUSE Studio was a higher version than what is in the website's repos. I'll try again tomorrow (later today; currently 1:41 AM). * I think I may be switching from DEB to RPM due to how much easier it is to find packages, especially when installing from source. OpenSUSE has an Open Builder Service that one can use to find RPM versions of DEB packages. The only advantage it doesn't have is Synaptic Package Manager or a Software Center like Ubuntu has, or at least as developed. * I'm concerned that OpenSUSE Studio may be the only way to build an ISO. I'm also concerned about how much RAM and CPU it's going to use. By default, OpenSUSE is either GNOME or KDE; neither of these are known for their "lightness." I want to use Budgie Desktop 10 but only 8 is available for OpenSUSE 13.2 and 10+ RPMs are only 64-bit, which means compiling from source. Ergo, the need to pack an ISO after a real installation of PsychOS. * A list of installed packages is on a flash drive from the last PsychOS attempt; it needs to be uploaded to Google Drive. * I'll install XFCE and then compile Budgie Desktop 10 from source. If it fails, I'll still have XFCE installed; win-win.
