####################################################################### # 2020/07/05 - PsychOS486 1.2.5 - Slacko Pup 5.3.1 with kernel 4.4.27 # ####################################################################### After much frustration, I was able to compile Linux kernel 4.4.27 from source on Slacko Pup 5.3.1 and have it boot; however, USB devices will not show-up at all and I have no idea why. The hope was that I could have a newer kernel and then build it up from there. Even when I booted into the 4.4.27 version, it re-asked me about my VGA stuff like Puppy usually does, but with a lot more resolution options. I started installing stuff and "borked" it and I think that it is because of a MESA package. Essentially, the mouse stopped working after a reboot. Oh, also, I reinstalled Slacko Pup 5.3.1 and people will just have to deal with using an older kernel if USB isn't going to work. And not to sound like a broken record, but one of the biggest issues so far in all of this, specifically when it comes to adding or installing software, is SSL and GPG errors. I may temporarily change gears and install Slackware 14.1 and then immediately create a bzip2 to then replace the one inside of Source Mage and just let that be my installer. I wont know until I try. Backup command for Source Mage idea: ------------------------------------ tar -cvpSf $HOME/system.tar.bz2 --exclude=$HOME/system.tar.bz2 --one-file-system
