However, if you are using the MESS program, an all-in- one emulator, many of the options require ROMs, which PsychDOS does not include. Emulators that work out-of-the-box: 6502sim - A 6502 microprocessor simulator DOSVICE - DOS version of VICE, a Commodore emulator ElectrEm - An Acorn Electron emulator KGen - Sega Genesis and MegaDrive Emulator KiGB - Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Super Game Boy emulator MESS - An "all-in-one" emulator: - NES - Sega Game Gear - Sega Genesis - Sega Master NESTicle - Nintendo Entertainment System emulator PCAE - Atari 2600 emulator V8 - CHI8 emulator ZSNES - Super Nintendo emulator Emulators that require ROMs: To keep this simple, take a look at the huge list in "PROGRAMS\GAMES\EMULATOR\MESS\MESS.TXT" and everything that is not mentioned in the "work out-of-the-box" list above, that system does not include needed ROMs. Why no games? ------------- Most of these emulators require, for whatever reason, that I do not include games. Why no required ROMs? --------------------- We have these dumb things in most societies called "patents" and "copyright." That is why. Speaking of which, all product and company names are trademarks(TM) or registered(R) trademarks of their respective holders. PsychDOS's use of them does not imply any affiliation with or endorsement by these products and companies. At least I haven't mentioned Disn... If you are a historian from the distant future and PsychDOS does well enough for someone to read this, I hope you get the "Disn..." joke. Will your game saves be compatible with these emulators? -------------------------------------------------------- If you saved your game the proper way, as in inside of the game itself, aka that little watch battery inside of the cartridge, metaphorically speaking, and not a "cheaters" save state, then it should work just fine. In other words, if you use a newer version of ZNES but used a save state, do not expect the DOS version (unless updated) to support it; however, it may be possible for the newer version to be backwards compatible, but I am not sure.
