################################################################################### # PsychOS 09/08/2016 - PsychOS 2.5.7 - Missing menu items and Firefox vs. Netflix # ################################################################################### * Missing menu icons: - About XFCE - Appearance - gedit - gOCP - ipython - ipython Qt Console - Log Out - MIME Type Editor - Run Program... * Missing menu comments: - Install/Remove Software - Qt 4 Settings - qTox - Radio Tray - RStudio - SearchMonkey * Missing menu category icons: - Accessories - Development - Education - Games - Graphics - Multimedia - Office - System * .desktop file options to note: - NoDisplay=true or false for showing or hiding menu items - NotShowIn=[name of desktop environment] used for desktop environment based show or hide menu item - MimeType=[mime types] to specify associated MIME types * It's kind of odd how typing "internet" in the Whiskermenu doesn't show the web browsers or when typing "text" shows XTerm. * RStudio wants to open .md files by default for some reason. - /etc/mime.types - /usr/share/mime/ * !!! If Firefox gets support to play Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, etc., I'm not letting PsychOS ship with Chromium by default, especially with Adobe making Flash for Linux again. The user will still be able to install Chromium if they want via zypper or whatever. The widevine plugins (needed for Netflix) for Chromium will also still be there. * Installing Scribus from source code works just fine, but unnecessary; I thought I had to do it from source code because the template I wanted to try was in Cyrillic font. Turns out, it is supposed to be that way. * Ended up adding the following packages to PsychOS 2.5.7: - python-scipy - freeimage-devel - libSDL2-devel - eigen3-devel - libSDL2-devel - eigen3-devel - cups-devel - Python-devel (I think it was already installed though) - python-matplotlib - IPython - python-pandas - python-sympy - Python-nose * Just found out that LibreOffice template packages added last time to PsychOS 2.5.6 also added options to the right-click menu inside "Create Document."
