####################################################### # PsychOS 03/01/2016 - OpenSUSE Tweaking and Installer # ####################################################### * Upon resuming inspection of PsychOS OpenSUSE edition, I am glad that it works; but, it needs some serious tweaking. * Setting to change the desktop background is missing from XFCE settings manager and YAST. * Cannot figure out hot to move the bottom bar to the top (XFCE -panel). * I'm running the Live installer from YAST just to see what would happen: - License file is missing; license.tar.gz is supposed to be placed in the root directory before building the ISO. You have to accept the license agreement before moving forward in the install. - During the install, it found an encrypted volume and asked for a password; this is the left-over LVM nonsense from trying to install - The installer allows separate partitions for the root and for the home. - The installer is not as easy as Ubiquity, but I have no idea how it would act if Windows were already installed. - The installer creates an overview of everything before proceeding. You can export the configuration; probably for multiple computer installs. * Played around with IceWM; it's actually not that bad; it would be perfect for older computers. * Yast doesn't have a way to change keyboard shortcuts, or the settings package for it wasn't installed. * Home folder was created, but not in the traditional sense. It would seem as though the installer from YAST settings manager installs everything as is, just with a different username and password. * No screen locking when logged into IceWM. * Need to see if there's a way to get XFCE -panel plugins onto whatever panel IceWM uses. * IceWM had issues with opening file managers from the terminal.
