Minimum System Requirements for PsychOS 3.4.6 - 32-bit or 64-bit computer with an Intel or AMD processor - 512MB of RAM, but 1GB is better and 4GB is ridiculous. - 16GB or more of hard drive space - 11GB for software in the Root ("/") directory to install - 5GB for Home (/home/username) with a little bit of "wiggle room" - An Internet connect is not necessary for most included software PsychOS comes with lots of different packages for various firmware installed; however, not everything has been tested. Much of this firmware was included by default when basing PsychOS off of Devuan ASCII. https://devuan.org/ Currently, PsychOS only has 32-bit builds but if I can get enough support, I would like to try to buy machines that I can dedicate to making 64-bit and ARM versions. If installing on a system that uses EFI/UEFI firmware, such as a Macbook, you will need to create a small (~32MB) FAT32 partition as your first partition and then flag it as 'bios_grub' to avoid installation failures. PsychOS 3.4.6 and higher comes with documentation in the ~/LookHere directory that may hopefully shed more light on this. So far, PsychOS has been confirmed (or volunatrily reported) to work on: 1. 2008 Macbook 4,1 2. 2008 Acer Aspire One ZG5 3. 2014 Macbook Pro 4. Dell Mini 910 (may have WiFi/Bluetooth issues with BR4321) 5. ThinkPad R52: Intel Pentium M 370 @ 1.73ghz, 2GB DDR2, Intel 915 video, 40GB IDE HDD 6. Samsung NP-N140 netbook 7. HP Pavilion s7710.uk with Pentium M and 2G of RAM 8. Shuttle Atom D525 with 4GB of RAM 9. Acer Aspire One 722 with a AMD dual-core c60 boost clock @1.7Ghz 4GB of RAM 10. Dell Optiplex 780 with 4GB of RAM 11. HP Compaq 6000 Pro MT PC with 8GB of RAM (PsychOS uses a PAE kernel) If PsychOS works for your hardware, feel free to email psychosgnulinux@protonmail to add your computer to the list as I have zero plans to ever install metrics collecting software like some GNU/Linux distributions... (*cough* Ubuntu *cough*). If you have less than 512MB of RAM, such as 256MB, you may still be able to run PsychOS using the console or one of it's other desktop environment options. However, when running it Live, it logs into XFCE automatically and therefore, you would want to switch to the console as soon as possible. You can do this with CTL+ALT+F1. The default username is 'psychos' and the default password is 'linux'. An ASCII animation will play and then you can run 'refractainstaller' in the command-line to install PsychOS. If you must have a GUI, then you can try logging out and then use the F2 key to switch the desktop environment to IceWM, which may give you enough RAM left to run the installer without it being too painful.
